Middle School: Grades 6-8
The years between 10 and 13 are some of the most formative in terms of emotional growth and self-awareness. We celebrate these in-between years, and the tweens themselves, in our Middle School program.

At AISK we have adopted the American middle school system, to help our tween students transition smoothly into the higher grades. Middle school is a key time when students start to explore friendships, social interactions and begin growing a sense of who they are and where their passions and interests lie. As a result, there are massive differences between the social, emotional, and academic needs of a 5th grader and a 9th grader.

But these in-between years are particularly difficult to navigate, both for the student themself, and for the teachers supporting them. So in addition to alignment with our learning program, our Hiring Team selects the teachers in this division to be both academically rigorous and empathetic, without coddling their students.
Middle School
Middle School incorporates STEM in all the core programs, with students leading their own education in an experiential and exploratory approach. This project-based model helps our middle school students apply creative problem-solving immediately and tangibly, transforming each of them into a scientist, a specialist, an engineer, and an inventor.
Program Highlights
STRONG ACADEMICS
In middle school, the academic year is divided into two semesters, wherein students engage in five core subject areas: English, mathematics, science, social studies, and modern languages. An integrated approach enables students to see and experience the relationship of these subjects to the world around them.
As students prepare for the rigors of high school and college, they are supported by passionate teachers. Middle school students enjoy regular a er-school tutorials three times a week where they can ask individual questions, get extra help with problems or concepts, and have academic conversations with adults.
All courses in Grades 6-10 are linked to AERO (American Education Reaches Out), NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) and other subject-specific standards, including Visual Art, Music, Dance, and Drama, to provide teachers with a framework to help students make the connections between themselves and the global community.
