ATTENDANCE
DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES
Only vehicles with visible and current AISK stickers will be permitted on the school’s campus. Parents and bus drivers must enter through the designated gate on College Green Avenue from 7:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Upon entering the property, the drop off zone is a designated area from the Front Office to the main building entrance. The drop off zone is not a parking area. If parents wish to walk in with their children, they must park in the car park.
School begins at 7:45 a.m. and students will be supervised at 7:30 a.m. School dismissal is 3:00 p.m. Children must be picked up promptly after school and no later than 3:15 p.m., or 4:15 p.m. if they are participating in the extra-curricular program.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS
Student attendance is of primary concern at AISK. Students should make all efforts to attend school every day for the school year. Parents are strongly encouraged to not excuse students from school for the purposes of extending vacations, outside activities or for minor ailments. Upon returning to school after an absence, parents must call, send an email, or a note, signed by a parent/ guardian or physician, indicating the dates and reasons for the absence. This note must be taken or sent to the Principal’s office before returning to class.
The school does not condone the unexcused absence of students and respects the rights of those students present not to be held back by those absent. At least 90% attendance is required to attain credit for a yearlong course or promotion to the next grade level.
Absence due to illness:
The student, parent, and teacher share in the responsibility of initiating and following up on the completion of make-up work.
Absence due to travel:
It is the student’s and parents’ responsibility to complete all make-up work.
TARDINESS
Students are expected to arrive at school and to class on time. If a student arrives at school after 8:00 a.m., he/she must go directly to class. He/she will be marked tardy in Power School (our school information management system).
PERMISSION TO LEAVE SCHOOL
Parent/guardian is required to communicate to the teacher when a student needs to leave school before regular dismissal time. Date, time of departure and the person to whom the child will be released must be stated. The parent/guardian must sign for the student’s early dismissal in the office. Parents are strongly encouraged to make routine medical, dental and other appointments outside of school hours, so the learning is not disrupted.
ILLNESS
Children with a severe rash, fever, diarrhea, contagious probability, and/or vomiting must remain at home and be free of symptoms for at least 24 hours before returning to school. Any contagious illnesses or conditions must be reported to the school. Communicable diseases, such as head lice, ringworm, and impetigo must be reported to the Principal and School Nurse. Even if thought to be a communicable disease, a report will be made and parents will be contacted. The child may be required to report to school with a doctor's note stating that the issue has been dealt with and the child has been cleared.
In the event of injury, any action the Head of School deems necessary will be taken to ensure the well-being of the child. The office will make every attempt to contact the parents before any action is taken. An Accident/Illness Report will be completed by AISK the Principal. One copy will be kept on file at school and one copy will be sent home.
MEDICATION PROCEDURES
All medication should be sent to the nurse, and will only be administered following specific directions from a physician. If a student becomes ill at school, parents will be notified and asked to promptly pick up their child.
Please do not send your child to school if he/she has a fever. If a student develops a fever during school, we will administer Tylenol or Advil (if we have a signed Over-The-Counter Medication Form). We will then contact you to come and get him/her. If you have given permission through the AISK permission form, the nurse will administer ONLY over the counter medication. Parents will be notified in this event.

APPLE IPAD PROGRAM
As part of AISK’s vision to mold students into being creative, critical thinkers and to motivate them to achieve their potential in a global environment, AISK embraces students’ use of Apple laptops and iPads and other technological devices as part of day-to-day student learning.
Elementary students are required to own and use an iPad in grades 1-4 and own an Apple laptop in grade 5. The use of Apple devices is built into the curriculum and is, therefore, an integral part of all classes and activities at AISK.
Students and teachers are strongly encouraged to visit the Help Desk for assistance and repairs. AISK is authorized by Apple to perform simple repairs and maintenance on all Apple devices.
AISK does not, however, maintain a supply of Apple spare parts needed for advanced repairs. Please note that all repairs are subject to spare parts shipping time. The IT department will make every effort to supply students and teachers with loaner devices during the repair period.
AISK’s Apple devices must comply with all copyright laws, therefore downloading illegal/pirated software; music, movies, etc. are prohibited. See the Acceptable Use Policy for more details.
Damaged laptops that require work by MIST or Apple should be managed wholly by parents. The IT Department will help to diagnose concerns and problems. The student or parent is responsible for the delivery and pick-up for servicing by all outside providers.

Sometimes you will need to get a message to your child, and we will make every attempt to relay messages to children. Please help us by limiting those calls to emergencies only.
BULLETIN BOARDS
Bulletin boards for parent’s use are available at AISK. Those wishing to post notices on the whiteboard must request authorization through the office. The PTO and general notices bulletin board are located in the cafeteria and courtyard. There is also a bulletin board in the upstairs and downstairs elementary hallways for displaying students’ work.
WEBSITE - www.aisk.com
All information about the school is posted on the website. This includes current news items, calendars, plans and all other information related to life at AISK.
MORNING AND EVENING MEETINGS WITH ADMINISTRATION
Dates of meetings will be communicated in a timely fashion through all of the means mentioned above.
PARENT CONCERNS
Parents who have a concern or questions about curriculum or any classroom issues should privately discuss the matter with the teacher by arranging an appointment. If the teacher is unable to resolve the issue satisfactorily, a parent’s next course of action is to refer the issue to the Principal or Curriculum Coordinator.
Any other matter connected with the school or its administration should be discussed with the Head of School. If the Head of School is unable to satisfactorily resolve the matter, the person making the complaint may refer the matter to the Board of Directors in writing. Please see section 9 of the Board Policy and Regulations for more details about this procedure.
