Welcome to Elementary School

Welcome to the Elementary School 2018-19 school year! As Dr. Seuss tells us:

“You're off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So... get on your way!”
― Dr. SeussOh, The Places You'll Go!

As the interim Principal for this year, I am excited to be leading the Elementary School “off to great places” so I hope you are ready!  There’s fun to be had, learning and leading to be done, and friends to be made as we welcome new and returning students, teachers, and families to our elementary school community.

Working in partnership with parents, our primary purpose at AISK is to provide the students in our care with the best possible opportunities and learning experiences to grow cognitively, creatively, physically and personally to reach their full potential.  To do this, our dedicated and highly skilled staff empower our young learners to take risks, inquire, collaborate, discover and explore, thereby building understanding and developing the skills for learning now, and into the future.

AISK’s Dynamic Learning Paradigm (ADLP) engages children in learning, encouraging them to take responsibility for their own learning and to reflect on their experiences.  Language and Literacy, Cognition and General Knowledge, Personal Development and Creative Expression provide a comprehensive holistic program.  Our continuing development of the STEM program will broaden the opportunities for deeper engagement in solving problems, creating and inventing. Technology supports collaboration, problem solving and communication, enhancing learning and teaching through a 1:1 digital device program.

Providing an attractive and stimulating learning environment that is safe and secure, will continue to foster respectful relationships and build in each individual a sense of self-confidence and self-worth.  The continuing focus on social-emotional development will support students in making responsible choices, developing empathy, setting personal goals and striving for excellence in all that they do.  Curricular and co-curricular opportunities support an understanding of our own and other cultures to enable our young learners to act with integrity and make a positive contribution to their local and global communities.

Please take some time to explore our website to learn more about AISK and the Elementary School, its programs, and opportunities.  We welcome inquiries from families and educators.  We are passionate about what we do and would love to share this with you with the hope that you will join our community of learners.  If you have questions or would like to talk about learning, please email me.  I’d love to get to know you!

“[our] mountain is waiting….”  And each of us will tackle it at our own pace and with support from this loyal AISK Elementary School community!  “So, get on your way!”

With best wishes,
Chris Green
