MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM
AISK’s block schedule allows for classes to run for longer periods which enhances the learning experience. Larger blocks of time allow for more flexibility with instructional activities, with students working more productively. This type of schedule also reduces the “lecture” lesson that is often ineffective for all types of learners. The middle school faculty at AISK serve as mentors to our students and help them build lifelong skills, such as collaboration, communication, and problem solving. We shape children that know how to wonder and inquire, how to be global citizens, and how to discover and create with intellect.
AISK bases its curricula on the American educational model and international best practice. In order to help our students navigate through this time of transition, we maintain small class sizes and provide an environment that feels safe, where students can receive individual attention from teachers and form positive relationships with their peers.
Middle School Schedule
The middle school day begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. with a 15-minute break time and a 50-minute lunchtime. After school co-curricular activities run from 3:15-4:15 p.m.
In middle school, the academic year is divided into two semesters, wherein students engage in five core subject areas: English, mathematics, science, social studies, and modern languages. An integrated approach enables students to see and experience the relationship of these subjects to the world around them.
As students prepare for the rigors of high school and college, they are supported by passionate teachers. Middle school students enjoy regular a er-school tutorials three times a week where they can ask individual questions, get extra help with problems or concepts, and have academic conversations with adults.
Middle school is a time when many students discover their unique talents and passions. The exploratory program at AISK provides exposure to the arts, including visual arts, drama, music, and dance. These experiences foster creativity and help middle school students learn to express themselves in a positive way.
