PARENT ENGAGEMENT - During the review, the number of participants in our interviews was substantial; in particular, the number of parents who voluntarily participated in the interview process was impressive for such a small school community of around 300 students.
BOARD OF EDUCATION - The full Board's participation in our interview was also a clear demonstration of its support and commitment to the school.
OVERALL SCHOOL CLIMATE - The areas that received the overall highest average ratings were " Has equal access to classroom discussions, activities, resources, technology, and support" and "Speaks and interacts respectfully with teacher(s) and peers." The overall climate at the school was one of support and positive interactions among all members of the school community
HEAD OF SCHOOL - One of the school's Powerful Practices identified by the External Review Team is " The Head of School works closely and openly with the entire school community to foster a cohesive and supportive culture that is firmly aligned with the school's purpose and direction."
SCHOOL PURPOSE - The Head of School works closely and openly with the entire school community to foster a cohesive and supportive culture that is firmly aligned with the school’s purpose and direction.
TECHNOLOGY - AISK leadership has invested significant financial and human resources to provide an exceptional and robust technology infrastructure that benefits the entire school community at all grade levels.
SUPPORT SYSTEMS - Instructional time, material resources, and fiscal resources are clearly focused on supporting the purpose and direction of the school.
CONCLUSION - AISK has focused in the past two years on establishing systems, processes and procedures to ensure consistency in a number of important areas including teacher and staff evaluation, curriculum and instruction, data use for instructional improvement and student achievement, and professional development. The school is clearly focused on student success and the climate that permeates the entire school community is supportive, caring, and transparent. This is largely due to the Head of School's knowledge, skills, persistence, and leadership experience.
