National Tournaments

JISA

The Jamaican Independent Schools Association coordinates a variety of competitions between independent schools. AISK currently enters the JISA Football league with U12 Coed and U19 boys. 

JCDC Festival of the Visual and Performing Arts Competition

Through the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission’s annual competition, the talents of Jamaicans of all ages are exposed and developed. Competitors may represent their schools or enter as an individual.

In the last 4 years the AISK administration has entered our students in the Visual Arts, Dance, and Drama categories and we have enjoyed immediate success in all three genres, earning Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals. 

Regional Tournaments

FOOTBALL FEST 

The Hurricanes travel to Lyford Cay International School for 'Football Fest' in Lyford Cay, Bahamas. This is a middle school soccer tournament and is always a fantastic experience for our young athletes. Last year AISK finished as the top visiting team. This year The Hurricanes are not settling for the semi-final! The Soccer program at AISK has really taken off; the players are focused and dedicated to succeed.

AISK's Tennis Hurricanes are our largest Hurricanes varsity sport in terms of age range that compete. In 2019, our U10's overcame Hopefield to be crowned Champions and U12's also made the finals. As soon as tournaments resume, AISK will enter the Annual Mayberry Investments Middle and High School Championships.

AISK launched its Polo team in September 2011. This was the first school Polo Tournament to be formed in Jamaica and the Caribbean. The Hurricanes have successfully won all its annual matches against a local school.

National Tournaments

Middle and High School Basketball begin training in September for our U19 and U16 teams. The U14s team start training in January all our teams will play friendly matches and mini tournaments against local schools. If suitable teams will be entered into the ISSA league.

Regional Tournaments

THE BLUE IGUANA JAMBOREE

Later in the academic year our High School Basketball Team travel to Cayman International School for 'The Blue Iguana Jamboree'. This is another enriching experience and last year against international schools we finished second. This year we have already started training and intend to finish top of the table. Our basketball program is relatively young but the buzz for it means we are confident of competing both locally and in CISA events (Caribbean International School Association).

The Clay Shooting team is one of our biggest teams and this is thanks to 'Uncle Khaleel' Azan who is the driving force behind youth clay and skeet shooting across the island. Being the coach for the national team, Uncle Khaleel is an excellent mentor to our young athletes. AISK has two main National Inter School Championships; The ATL Automotive Inter-Schools Shooting Tournament and the Tastee Challenge Inter-School Shoot.

Our recent graduate Danzell Knight was also responsible for hosting a Charity Clay tournament for two years which has made large donations to the Jamaica Society for the Blind. You can read more about that here and here. 

AISK launched a new swim team  and with the opening of our Desmond Blades Aquatic Centre in 2019, swim training has become a part of the school curriculum. The AISK Swim Team regularly enters the Prep and High School, National Championships, which are held at the National Stadium. We earned great results  and we will continue to strengthen our squad in 2021-2022 when this activity resumes.

AISK's golf team is guided by Jason Lopez who is Jamaica's National Junior Team Coach. Based out of Constant Spring Golf Club in the heart of Kingston, it is a beautiful place for students to work at their golf game, discipline, etiquette and patience! We currently have one varsity competition per year on island, but are collaborating to grow golf as a school sport across Jamaica.
