The teaching and learning environment at AISK motivated me to become a teacher at this institution. The environment is one that encourages children to be active learners and be in charge of their learning. I started working at AISK in August 2018. I began my journey in the Early Years Program for two years and I currently teach in Grade 1 and am loving the experience. At AISK, we encourage the “why” question, which encourages children to develop a love for learning and realize that learning can occur anywhere.

I have always wanted to be an Early Childhood teacher; I worked in this area in various capacities for around 20 years. I hold a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and I taught students from 18 months to 8 years, both locally and overseas, Teaching is a job like no other; you take on many different roles daily.  Although I plan my daily activities, there is always some uncertainty and I like that each day is different. Seeing my students get excited about learning, having their a-ha moments and meeting their learning goals gives me great satisfaction and purpose.  

Outside of teaching, I enjoy solving puzzles, playing my favorite game; Tetris as well as reading.

From an early age I knew I wanted to have a positive and inspiring impact in the lives of children. As a child, I always enjoyed dressing up in my mom’s heels and teaching the trees. Reciting poems, nursery rhymes and following the daily schedule. I was very elated to be given the opportunity to work in an International School. It was a dream come true. I joined the AISK team in August 2017 as an Elementary Teaching Assistant in the Early Years Program and presently work in Kindergarten. I have received training and certifications in Early Childhood Education from the University of the West Indies as well as in Special Education with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder and Applied Behavior Analysis

What stood out about AISK is the use of technology in teaching and learning, along with integrating different learning styles to support students. I am inspired by students’ curiosity to learn and discover new things. While at AISK I received international training and certification in HighScope Curriculum and Lesson Planning. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy singing, dancing, researching and connecting with other Educators around the world.

My desire to work in international schools stemmed from my own experience attending an international school as a child.  These institutions made learning fun! I joined the staff at AISK in August 2019 as a Grade 4 teacher. I have a degree in Special Needs as well as a degree in Education from the Institute of Education at the University of London. AISK was the perfect change for me and my husband after living in England for 6 years. Change in weather and immersing ourselves in a new way of life was both exciting and invigorating. 

I believe in teaching through an inquiry-based approach, where the students are encouraged to explore, ask questions and share ideas in an integrated learning environment. I also find that there is a  strong link between academic success and social emotional well-being which leads to students performing at their best.

I always look forward to getting to know the students and their families and creating a safe and nurturing environment where we can all grow and learn together.

Outside of the classroom I love to cook, exercise and read. We have two children; Daniel and Anna who are both attending university in the United Kingdom. 

My absolute passion for children and helping with their growth and development led me into teaching, and to AISK, and it has kept me here for 11 years. I have been a part of the AISK family since 2010, and what an amazing experience it has been. 

Since then I have been a Teaching Assistant with the Early Years Program. While supporting the dynamic and creative teachers at that grade level, I was motivated to pursue my teaching degree at The Mico University where I successfully obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education in September 2020. What stands out to me the most at AISK is the diversity of cultures and activities, and the resources that are available from a physical and human standpoint. The experience at AISK has been wonderful! In addition to my profession, I enjoy nature in all its glory and tending to my birds and dogs.

Developing close and trusting relationships with my students, helping them cultivate a love of learning, and empowering them as learners is what inspires me to teach.
After living in the Netherlands for 12 years, and working as a classroom teacher, curriculum developer and teaching coach, I joined the AISK family as a Grade 3 teacher in August, 2020. I hold a Masters of Science in Education from Pace University in New York City and have had the privilege facilitating curiosity in children from Kindergarten to 5th grade for 20 years. 

After researching many international schools, I was drawn to AISK because of its strong sense of community and family feel. The teachers and administrators know, and genuinely care about every student personally. The class sizes are small which ensures individualized attention and personal relationships with each student. I love being part of a child’s journey as they discover their talents and passions, but also as they develop confidence and learn to take risks, make mistakes and overcome challenges.  AISK is a learning environment where all of these things happen, every single day. 

An interesting fact about me is that I speak Dutch and love to use it in my classroom, teaching my students common phrases that we use everyday. “Tot ziens!”

I have been a teacher since I taught imaginary school; writing in chalk on my brothers’ table tennis board which was leaned up on the side of our childhood home. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Exceptional Child Education from Barry University in Florida, and embarked on my Masters of Science degree in Teaching and Learning at Nova Southeastern University when my two sons became teens. I have been involved with the art of education for 35 years at different levels in elementary Grades 1 - 6 and also teens in after school clubs. 

I joined the AISK family five years ago teaching some awesome third graders. They taught me as much as I facilitated their learning. Since that first inaugural flight, I have been working alongside Grade 2 students. Each year the journey is unique and powerful. Learning really blossoms when: it flows where the curiosity lies, students have choices of performance and can be innovators and investigators and become reflective learners.  

As a child my parents always told me that having a good education is like having a key that will open many doors.  I wanted to market this idea and chose teaching. I started at AISK in August 2021. This year I will be teaching Math and STEM  at the 5th grade level. 

I am happy to be a part of the AISK family and was drawn to the school by all the interesting instagram stories and posts.  I was impressed by the community and the evidence that the students are from different backgrounds. Everyone’s individuality was showcased and their commonality was impressive. I wanted to be a part of this wonderful community.

I hold a Masters in Science degree from Florida International University, a Primary Education Degree from International University of the Caribbean and a Diploma from The Mico University College here in Jamaica.  

As a teacher I can talk to parents and inspire students and the community at large, and show them that having a good education can take them to new heights with endless opportunities. This is what inspired me to teach. 

 One interesting fact about me is that years ago I was talking to one of the 1st grade teachers at my school at a workshop. We were sharing best practices ideas and then a gentleman came over and was listening and sharing some of his ideas. A few weeks later he turned up at my workplace and invited me to work with a team to reform a new curriculum. 

I was looking for schools that had openings for the 2023-2024 school year and I was surprised to see an elementary teaching position open at AISK. The school stood out to me in every way, reviews from parents were very positive and teachers have loved working for AISK in the past. AISK seemed too good to be true and I wanted to be part of the community. Now, I am part of the 5th grade team!

I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher and I wanted as much experience as possible. For my education program, upon joining we were required to have 50 hours with students and I had 1,050 hours. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Language Arts education. Later I went back to school and earned my Master's degree in Literacy Education. Jamaica is my third country, previously I taught in Taiwan for three years and Egypt for six years.

I may not remember everything I was taught, but I remember the way my teachers made me feel. My high school English teacher inspired me with her engaging lessons, funny drawings in her notes, passion for etymology, and cozy classroom feel. If you come to my classroom, you will see those elements and I hope to make my students feel the way that I felt in this kind of environment. 

AISK stimulates and shapes each and every aspect of the students’ development. This institution suits all student’s needs and helps them to become capable, critical thinkers with an overall preparation that allows their perfect integration into this changing world. This was the outstanding attribute that made me feel eager and excited about becoming an AISK team player.  

AISK was the opportunity I was looking for to grow and widen my professional horizons and impart my knowledge and love for my native language to students across different age groups. I joined the AISK team in August 2020 as the Elementary School Spanish teacher; a position which I enjoy and feel very passionate about. 

I have a Master’s Degree in Foreign Languages from the University of Pedagogical Sciences “Blas Roca”, in Cuba. My teaching experience began in Cuba in 2014 and has continued in Jamaica, where I have been since 2017. Being able to provide the students with knowledge, skills, and habits they will benefit from and use to become successful is the most satisfying and rewarding outcome of teaching.  

One fun fact about me is that I love arts and crafts and thoroughly enjoy integrating them into my lessons.

I am inspired to tap into the ‘gateway’ children have to a world of unlimited imagination. Children love to ‘Free draw’ where all the stories inside come tumbling out as visual images. I am grateful to be in a position that helps to foster a continued appreciation of its value. I began teaching at AISK in August 2006 and currently teach Elementary Art from EYP - Grade 5.

I am a Graduate in Fine Arts- Painting- from The Edna Manley School of the Visual and Performing Arts and I have a Masters Degree in Art Education from Ohio State University.

I initially came to AISK  to fill in for an art teacher who unavoidably had to leave due to an emergency. During that first year I taught Kindergarten to Grade 12. I quickly realized I wanted to focus on teaching Art to the Elementary students, so when I was asked to continue teaching at AISK I gradually and happily transitioned to that specific role. 

I am appreciative and impressed with the investment AISK puts into the Arts which includes the  working space we are given, the budget for materials, as well as the showcasing of the student’s work. I am inspired to teach Art because I have observed that the Arts, both Visual and Performing, are a natural language that children use to express themselves even before beginning formal education. I am also inspired to teach a subject that is constantly engaged with creative thinking.

From the early years, children have an ease and familiarity with drawing, painting, movement, singing, make believe drama - all of which gives them access to their inner world without much direction from adults, and helps to anchor a healthy interior space.

An interesting fact about me is that I am a twin. Art and Yoga are my favourite hobbies.

AISK is an inspiring community that prepares young people for the future and makes room for students to develop their collaborative, creative and communication skills. I am a music educator and choir conductor with a degree in Jazz piano and Music Education from the City College of New York. I have worked in music my whole life: as a piano player, educator, arranger, musical theatre director, composer and choir conductor. I have been teaching music in local and international education for 15 years and have taught in Ghana, New York City and the Netherlands. I joined the AISK family with my wife and 2 daughters in August 2020 to start and teach a new music curriculum schoolwide, including the new IB Music course. 

The reason I love working at AISK is that we understand that music education and the rich musical culture of Jamaica can play an exciting role in that! I aim to design opportunities for our students to grow as human beings, develop musical skills, and become confident and creative members of a colourful society.

In my free time I love to play or watch football and my favorite hobbies are DJ-ing, cooking and playing board games with my family.

Exercise, sports and being healthy are very important to human development. AISK has ensured that programmes are put in place to assist students in these areas and to develop holistically. I have nearly twenty years’ experience teaching Physical Education at the elementary level and have continued in this position at AISK since 2005. I hold a Diploma in Physical Education, a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Middle Grades Education and a Master of Science (MSc.) in Sports Administration.

Having been at AISK for more than 16 years, I enjoy working with the small classes, which I believe enables the students to express themselves and maximize their potential for learning. Additionally, my passion for healthy living and being active allows me to thoroughly enjoy teaching and sharing this interest with students.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family members and friends, as well as listening to audio books and watching documentaries.

My inspiration to teach stems from the fulfillment of students learning a life skill that is fun and enjoyable. My journey as the Aquatics Manager and swimming coach at AISK began in 2018. My first degree, a Bachelor of Arts (Hons), from Howard University, was awarded in Political Science with a minor in Psychology. My Master of Science degree, from The University of the West Indies was awarded in Psychotherapy. While I have spent some of my career in the corporate arena, my entire life has been centered around the element of water and the sport of swimming. Those qualifications include certifications from The Fédération Internationale de Natationand, The American Swimming Coaches Association as well as being a certified and licensed lifeguard. 

The magnet that drew me towards AISK was being involved with a swimming program that was in its infancy stages of development. Additionally, the warmth of the community, teachers and a learning environment where students are encouraged to embrace every aspect of themselves through determination, sacrifice and resilience was also undeniable. Lessons learned in the corporate world coupled with my knowledge and experience in psychology and competitive swimming allows me to guide students in their achievements. To see students, marvel with pride at their accomplishments when they have triumphed is truly amazing. 

One interesting fact about me is that I not only represented my club in international meets, but also my country, Jamaica, accumulating several accolades including a swimming scholarship to Howard University. Hobbies include reading and having spontaneous adventures.

As a small community in size but big in heart, AISK allows me the ability to work with enthusiastic students to unlock their athletic potential. My name is David Bromfield and I have been teaching PE and Swimming at AISK since 2018. I have a BSc. in Sports Sciences, a Masters in Business Management and I am a Level 2 certified coach by the World Swimming Federation (FINA).

When I am not teaching young minds, I find comfort in reading, watching sports and playing video games. 

My heart’s desire is to leave an indelible mark on the lives of the future generation. My journey at AISK began in 2010 where the door was opened for me to be a substitute teacher. I transitioned into a teaching assistant role, then a teacher in the regular Elementary classroom and became the Information Technology Specialist for the Elementary School beginning August 2012. 

As I was completing my Masters of Arts in Teaching Degree (MAT) at Mercer University in the U.S. my heart yearned for home and I recognized that AISK was the institution that would afford me the opportunity to not only use the skills I had garnered in my studies, but also capitalize on my experience as a student growing up in Jamaica. I truly wanted to make a positive impact and provide students with well rounded experiences that would influence them for life. That passion has not changed as I engage in activities with enquiring minds each day. My role as an I.T. Specialist has also afforded me the opportunity to aid in the professional development of fellow teachers and staff. 

Outside of my professional career, I thoroughly enjoy writing and hope that someday in the near future I will be able to write children’s books.

My educational journey includes a Masters degree with distinctions in counselling and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology, both from the University of the West Indies, Mona.

Beyond my professional endeavors, I'm captivated by dolphins; their beauty, playfulness, and intelligence resonate deeply with me. I'm excited to join a team of like-minded individuals dedicated to shaping the future leaders.
