AMO Cawna Library
a community-based initiative
In honor of Annette Martin Ozaltin - AMO
We are honored to introduce the AMO Cawna Library, a legacy project dedicated to the memory of Annette Martin Ӧzaltin, a beloved member of the AISK community and mother to two of our Hurricane students who tragically passed away in 2023. Annette’s deep commitment to literacy and her passion for uplifting the less fortunate live on through this initiative. The AMO Cawna Library, located in Kingston, Jamaica, will provide vital resources and support for community learning and literacy and support programs linking AISK to these communities. Through this library, Annette's compassionate spirit and dedication to education will continue to inspire and benefit future generations.
Our Story
Annette and her family moved to Jamaica in 2023, and her passion
for education and improving the lives of children inspired this book
drive and the now "Di Cawna Library" initiative.
With a target of : $15,000 USD each donation brings us closer to
accessible and community driven stewardship of our children's
future through support and education.
What We Do
We will build an accessible library for the community and support
year-round learning activities and knowledge exchange programmes
with AISK.
Old refrigerators, that would often end up in water ways or “gullies” as
we know them as in Jamaica, are now repurposed into bookcases.
These bookcases are packed with books and then put in high traffic
areas in underserved communities for members of all ages to read,
use and return.
AMO Cawna Library is a sustainable community-based initiative centered around the United Nations’ Global Goals.
We invite you to be a partner in this project for
the children of Jamaica.
The AMO Cawna library will work in the (aptly named) Cheshire
Village of St. Andrew near to the town of Papine, a community
designed and built to support families with disabilities.
Your tax deductible donation will support and families of Chia, Mozambique.
The Martin and Ozaltin Families will match contributions made by you, up to the target, so that your donation will be tripled in its impact.
A hundred dollars becomes three hundred in value, and a thousand dollar contribution becomes three thousand.
Together... we can make a valuable impact in the lives of the children and communities in Jamaica.
In loving memory of of Annette Martin Ozaltin - AMO
Once a Hurricane, Always a Hurricane.
