Elementary_1American International School of Kingston is a lively, engaging, and evolving community. Although comprised of three divisions with three different tones, the entire campus shares a sense of warmth, academic challenge, and a commitment to improvement. AISK has achieved a balance between being both rigorous and nurturing. On the one hand, AISK has extremely high standards for its students, but the School also recognizes that there can be individual challenges and pathways to meeting these standards.

As an International School we set the tone for diversity with 26 countries represented in our student and faculty body. Since 2005 our scholarship program has offered 2 full scholarships to students of academic excellence from our surrounding community, this offers a remarkable array of passions and talents to the school. Independent thinkers thrive at AISK, and our graduates emerge with a shared commitment to excellence but not always the same passions or interests.

If you are looking for a place for your son or daughter where they can truly connect with remarkable students and adults in a healthy, invigorating learning environment, then we encourage you to give our Admissions Office a call. Many aspects of the school choices available feel similar, with strong academic standards, etc. The difference we offer is small classes, an international curriculum from K-12, our emphasis on critical thinking and analysis, oral communication and writing skills and creating avid readers. These are a few of the facets that contribute to the difference in the culture of our elementary, middle and high schools. By coming to visit campus for a tour or by visiting classes for a day, you can begin to discern whether or not the culture of AISK feels like the best match for you and your family.

The faculty and staff of AISK create an environment that is positive, open and respectful to all students that attend our school. Our programs are geared to constantly stretch our students beyond whom they may know themselves to be. We take a dynamic approach to the education process which assures agility, keeps us abreast of our changing society and in a position to anticipate the skills that our students will require for success in their future endeavours. AISK's Information Technology  educational component is poised  to become a pervasive piece of the AISK school culture.

AISK is now a wireless, AppleOS platform, laptop community, and we are aware that there is an entire electronic world, filled with, academic, and social exchanges that are available with other schools internationally and within our community. Technology has not replaced the value of personal contact at AISK, and through our Hurricane intranet the communication within our community will give rise to greater school spirit. Tools like  laptops are living examples of the school's belief in both the traditional and innovative teaching methods espoused by our Mission Statement.

Elementary School

The Elementary School is first and foremost a nurturing place. When a young child is socially happy and eager to come to school, great academic advancements can follow. Although we hold all children to high standards in the Lower School, our faculty has a keen sense of the learning continuum for Elementary School children, and teachers do not force kids beyond what is developmentally appropriate for them. However, AISK students emerge from our Lower school healthy, happy, and solidly grounded with a foundation for higher-level learning.

Middle School

The AISK Middle School is fundamentally a responsive place. The Middle School faculty understands when to challenge and when to support this crucial developmental stage. The Middle School is a fairly structured environment, as structure is a key foundation for learning at this age. The laptop program begins in Sixth Grade, and students begin to develop organizational skills in the areas of time management, scheduling and filing their work. Academically students are also introduced to the rigours of study and examination, readying them for their high school experience.

High School

The High School is a place where students refine and present the excellence of their passions in remarkable ways. Although guided by the omnipresent boundaries of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, High School students can carve both academic and co-curricular paths that meet their individual goals. A web of adult support ensures no one falls through the cracks, while creating an environment that affords more space and more freedom than our Middle School. The HighSchool faculty works hard to ensure that its students not only meet the challenge of a remarkably challenging academic program, but that they have time to appreciate the joys of adolescence. This balance is constantly evolving under the guidance of thoughtful leadership - from both students and adults. Student ideas play out in real ways in the High School,  activities, academics, and projects will change every year based on the passions of its students.
