Welcome from the IT Coordinator
Welcome to the American International School of Kingston. As a Global Center for Excellence in Education, AISK strives to be a leader in using the best tools available to support sound teaching, and we are proud to offer the most robust technology education and resources in the Caribbean. Here, digital technology is seen as an essential thread in our students' lives inside and outside of the school. Our technology department works hand-in-hand with all areas of the school to ensure that our students' education is infused with 21st Century tools, thinking skills and learning strategies.AISK applies the National Educational Technology Standards for Students, for an emphasis on using current real-world tools to drive critical thinking and problem solving, communication and collaboration, and inquiry and research skills. These standards are supported in the classroom by teachers across disciplines and age groups, as well as our Technology Specialists, who provide support and instruction for students on specific tools and strategies. Students integrate their digital learning throughout their classes.
The campus and facilities of AISK are designed to support digital learning. Our campus boasts a high-speed, high-security wireless network that covers students anywhere that they would choose to work. Walk through the campus on a sunny Kingston afternoon and you'll find project groups working at the lunch tables outside, students coming to the Technology Support Center, and teachers collaborating on future classroom activities. Our Caribbean-exclusive 1:1 program ensures that every Middle and High School student has a current Mac laptop which they will use for the entirety of their AISK education to create original works, in-depth research and global communication. All of our operations are supported by a team of Technology Specialists with current and rigorous training in hardware and software support as well as technology-aided teaching.
Every day, new developments in education and related fields help us understand more what it means to be a learner in a global, digital society. AISK students, staff and faculty will be leaders in this work, to ensure that our teaching is rigorous, relevant and always student-centered. I invite you to learn more about, and participate in, our Learning@AISK!
All the best,
