Our neighbor Haiti is suffering from a natural disaster. Destruction and pain is affecting everybody on the island and many many more. Let us be a good neighbor and assist however we can...
Dear members of the AISK community: A number of steps have been taken at AISK to help Haitian earthquake survivors: 1. High School Student Government: In cooperation with Hillel Academy, our HS Student Government organized a highly successful ‘Help Haiti Dress-Down Day’ this Friday, January 15th. Thank you to everyone who participated! We will make sure that the monies raised get to Haiti as soon as possible. In conjunction with the Salvation Army of Jamaica, the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is collecting non-perishable food items effective immediately until Friday January 29, 2010. The following non-perishable food items are currently in high demand: - Canned food (corned beef, sardines, etc.) - Evaporated milk - Bottled Water - Powered milk - High-energy biscuits and bars Additionally, we will also be accepting two more important items: hand sanitizers and blankets. Please send your donations with your child to his/her classroom OR drop off your donations into one of our donation bins in the AISK Parking Lot. Thank you to AISK Parents Wendy Martin-Haddad for the donation of the collection drums and Agnes Krausz-Nagy for agreeing to deliver all donations to the Salvation Army. 3. AISK Elementary Students: Starting Tuesday, January the 19th our elementary students will be doing a coin drive. They will be collecting Jamaican coin for two weeks. AISK is happily joining six other Kingston schools in this collective effort. Please send us all of your extra coins- no matter how small the denomination! |
